Jonnie Marbles is his stage name, but he wasn't a well known comic until he lunged onto the world stage by pushing a shaving foam pie into the face of Rupert Murdoch a few weeks ago.
Jonathan May-Bowles aka Marbles, attended the commons hearing on the phone hacking scandal and got his opportunity to hurl the object into the News Corp Chairman's face. Murdoch was shaken by the comedy attack but carried on with his testimony before the committee.
May-Bowles has been sentenced to six weeks in prison (Serving three), ordered to pay £15 victim surcharge and £250 costs.
Am I the only person that thinks.. Hang on.. 3 weeks in prison!? Why? A foam pie in the face!!. 3 weeks in prison?.. Surely you are kidding me?.. Why not go the whole hog and chop his hands off?? Why are magistrates jailing people willy-nilly for silly-billy things like this?? Did he have a knife? did he have a gun? was there an intent to kill or harm or injure, worst case scenario Murdoch's face would be prepared for a mid-afternoon shave. Talk about completely pointless sentence, how much does it cost to keep someone in jail for 1 week? nearly £1000, surely saving the state £3000 should be taken into account, along with the likely hood that Marbles is going to get the chance to do this again! (I doubt that would happen). Common sense here surely?
First Charlie Gilmour! what good was served by jailing him? none.. surely it would have been better to have him cleaning the cenotaph every week than jailed for 16 MONTHS and now this!? unbelievable.. sometimes I wonder if we are living in the UK?
